Black Mountain, Kentucky

this one was a beast. we scooted around ky. in pooh's jetta this trip and this "drive up " was too much for a vwub. we got up early friday morning to get a jump on the day and got to the mt. before the sun came up. We forgot about the snow and ice! the jetta couldn't make it up the first incline, freakin poohster out being in ice. so we hoofed it! not so bad we love hiking in the snow. as the sun came up it hit the snow and it twinkled like a movie. we giggled and talked and threw snow at each other, I love our snow hikes. we saw the FAA tower and then ky threw up on its highest peak. this is one of the yuckiest highest peaks. radio towers, a busted fire tower, not even the snow made it any better. I am glad we got to hike up that was the best part, just driving up ='s blahhhhh.

what a beautiful spot! makes ya what to hike the A.T. really really bad. the poohster and i had a big day and what better place to end it but here in mass. western mass. will always be in our hearts. maybe not the lack of on ramps to the pike.

what a hike! when they say moderate they really mean moderate plus 3. some of the inclines really make you sweat. great hike and the views are too. pooh and
i had a great morning hiking couldn't ask for better weather.

pooh and I had a time watching out for people with guns and coyotes barking crazy. not much of a pay off at the end but seeing it and living to tell...... priceless, plus it is freakin rhode island, who thinks of going there!?!

Driskill Mountain

on a cross country trip we top driskill mountain in la. at 535 ft I can't see how those log trucks get up some of those "trails". this was my dad's first highest peak and we will see if he is hooked. of course the only day on the trip we had rain. good times!
